The School of Resource Engineering of Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology can be traced back to September 1958 when the major of mining engineering began to enroll students. It is the only department of metal mineral resources development that the former Ministry of Metallurgy set up in northwest China. In 1960, the Department of Mining Engineering was set up independently, with four majors of mining, mineral processing, mining construction and mining machinery. There were more than 800 students and more than 100 teachers in the school. It was one of the major departments of the school at that time. In 1972, the mining machinery discipline became an independent electromechanical department, and the mining construction discipline was incorporated into the mining discipline; In 1984, it was approved as a Master of Mining Engineering. In 1986, the Department of Mining Engineering was renamed as the Department of Mineral Resources Engineering; In 1994, it was approved as a master's degree program in mineral processing engineering. In 1997, the Department of Mineral Resources Engineering was renamed as the Department of Resource Engineering, and the specialty of system engineering was added; In 1998, the major of safety engineering was transferred from the Department of Environmental Engineering to the Department of Resource Engineering. In 2000, the Department of Resource Engineering was withdrawn, the recruitment of mining engineering and mineral processing engineering was suspended, and the major of safety engineering was transferred to the School of Materials Science and Engineering. In 2008, the mineral resources engineering specialty resumed enrollment in the School of Materials and Mineral Resources; In 2011, he was granted the right to award the master's degree of the first level discipline of safety science and engineering; In 2017, he was granted the right to grant a master's degree in the first level discipline of mining engineering. On September 13, 2018, the school restored the organizational system of the School of Resource Engineering of Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology. All teachers and students of the School of Materials and Mineral Resources in mining engineering, mineral processing engineering and safety engineering, and some teachers of the School of Management in information management were transferred to the School of Resource Engineering.

The college has four undergraduate majors: mining engineering, mineral processing engineering, safety engineering, big data management and application, two first level disciplines: mining engineering, safety science and engineering, and a master's degree in resources and environment. There are 1065 registered students, including 668 undergraduates and 397 postgraduates. 80 teachers, including 7 experimental technicians; 22 professors and 23 associate professors; 60.8% of teachers with doctor's degree; The "Intelligent Mining Theory and Technology Innovation Team" won the Young Innovation Team of Shaanxi University; One person has been selected into the high-level scientific and technological innovation talent plan of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the innovation talent promotion plan of Shaanxi Province and the "Kunlun Talents · High end Innovation and Entrepreneurship Talents" plan of Qinghai Province; One person won the honorary title of "Lu Wanzhen Near Infrared Spectrum Award" Youth Award; It has 1 scholar of the "Thousand Talents Program for Youth", 2 scholars of the "Hundred Talents Program" in Shaanxi Province, and 1 outstanding youth in Shaanxi Province. In addition, the college also employs more than 20 part-time professors from the United States, Canada, Australia, Sweden, Finland and other countries. The college has three teaching departments, one experimental teaching center, eight research teams and Xi'an Key Laboratory for Perceptual Computing and Decision Making in Smart Industry. The mining engineering laboratory is the teaching demonstration center of Shaanxi Province. The laboratory area of the college is nearly 4000 square meters, 783 sets of various instruments and equipment, with a total value of more than 20 million yuan.

The college actively carries out academic exchanges at home and abroad, and has established cooperative relations with Royal Swedish Institute of Technology, Olu University in Finland, and Northern Arizona University in the United States. More than 20 teachers have experience of studying abroad, academic exchanges, and cooperative scientific research. It has established talent training and practice bases with more than 10 enterprises and scientific research institutes. Representative scientific research platforms include: the National International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for the Development and Utilization of Non traditional Water Resources, the Northwest Key Laboratory of Water Resources and Environmental Ecology of the Ministry of Education, the Shaanxi Key Laboratory of Geotechnical and Underground Space, the Shaanxi Key Laboratory of Gold and Resources, and the Shaanxi Engineering and Technology Research Center for Comprehensive Utilization of Mineral Resources. In addition, a new research and development institution in Shaanxi Province, Smart Mine Research Institute, has also been established; Xi'an International Science and Technology Cooperation Base has been approved: efficient development and utilization of mineral resources of the Silk Road; And together with Hanzhong Derun Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., we established the "Research and Development Center for Solid Waste Assembled Building Materials".

The college earnestly implements the new pattern of "11445" development of the school, focuses on the demand for revolutionary and subversive technical talents in the future, grasps the connotation of new engineering construction, follows the development path of "characteristics+connotation", follows the school running philosophy of "academic school building, self-improvement and serving the country", and follows the development idea of "discipline construction striving for breakthrough, teacher structure tending to be reasonable, education system becoming increasingly complete, and management services becoming more accurate", Strive to build a teaching and research highland for compound and innovative talents that can lead the development of mining science and technology in the future and serve the development of mineral resources in the Silk Road Economic Belt.
